Post and Telegraph Boutique Bed & Breakfast, c. 1887

Sleeps 6 | Bedrooms 3 | Bathrooms 3

The Post & Telegraph is a grand Victorian brick building, originally Moruya’s Post Office and Post Master’s residence, built for the price of 1,854 pounds. It officially opened for business on 1 November 1887; and in 1926, it was extended to cater for growth in the town, with a seamless blend of architecture from two different periods. Owners & hosts Sue and Michael recently undertook a careful restoration of the building, retaining all its charming period detail. They love to share this beautiful historic building with travellers, and provide a relaxing, luxurious & indulgent experience for guests.

The many original architectural features include locally-milled ironbark floors, cast iron fretwork, cedar doors & arched sash windows, high ceilings, and central wooden staircase. The 1920s Art Deco extension also remains intact. All three guest rooms have original marble or wood fireplaces, sash windows, high ceilings, artwork by local artists, and are furnished with vintage & antique furniture.

Choose from the Dove Room, a large room with ensuite and king bed (able to be split into two singles if required), the Blue Room, with queen bed and its own ensuite; or the Sage Room, with queen bed and its own dedicated bathroom across the hall with clawfooth bath. Each bedroom has quality linen bedding, monogrammed linen bathrobes and slippers for guests’ use. All bathrooms have walk-in showers, fluffy Sheridan towels, and a range of ASPAR botanical hair & body care products.

A traditional bed & breakfast for adults, there are several spaces where you can relax, including a private guest lounge with coffee machine, range of teas, fridge with milk & complimentary soft drinks, board games, magazines, and large TV with access to streaming services. In the afternoon, enjoy home-baked treats served daily in the guest lounge. Enjoy a complimentary muscat & whiskey, or select from the wine list, that includes wine sampling flights. Also upstairs is a peaceful sunny verandah overlooking the gardens - a lovely spot for morning coffee, or glass of wine at the end of the day.

Downstairs each morning, a decadent, full breakfast is served in the Great Room that once formed part of the original Post Office. Enjoy a buffet of granola, made by a wonderful local French pastry chef, fruit & fresh berries, local yoghurt, and juices. A choice of cooked breakfast follows, using local produce, and includes options for guests with dietary requirements. Also on the ground floor, there’s another verandah & garden nooks to escape to with a good book, and a fernery, which is lovely and cool in summertime.

For an extra special experience, The Post & Telegraph offer a Stay & Dine package, where guests can enjoy a five star degustation menu prepared in-house by internationally-trained chefs, served in the formal dining room. Vegetables are hand-picked from the ground by the chefs from a local farm, and meat & seafood is all sourced locally.

The Post & Telegraph Boutique Bed and Breakfast offers the charm, service, and attention to detail of yesteryear, coupled with modern comforts & luxuries for a truly memorable experience.
