Mister Munro c. 1890
Sleeps 8 | Bedrooms 4 | Bathrooms 2
Drive up Goulburn Street, the wide main street of Crookwell, and your eyes will be drawn to this late Victorian terrace house, proudly standing alongside the rows of heritage facades. The building was aptly named after its original resident, Mister William Munro, who ran a Tailor shop there. Host Elise loves finding historical information about Mister Munro’s past, and during its restoration, uncovered the original fireplace in the kitchen and found the old shopfront doors in the shed out the back!
Elise has styled the home’s interior in sympathy with the Victorian era, highlighting its beautiful period features, including cornices, ceiling roses and archway in the hall, while also giving the home a contemporary touch to reflect modern-day living. There’s a lovely combination of dark and light throughout: some spaces are moody and dark, perfect for quiet rest and relaxation; in other areas, it’s light-filled and bright.
The deep green walls of the formal parlour are the perfect backdrop for a collection of vintage artwork, velvet lounges, antique furniture and drinks trolley, and firewood is stacked ready for you to use.
Mister Munro comprises of four bedrooms, all with queen beds and beautiful french linens, two full bathrooms, two kitchens, and an outdoor kitchen with BBQ, courtyard, firepit, and private parking to the rear of the building. It’s a wonderful choice for families and larger groups. Plan a road trip together to explore the beautiful scenery and heritage townships of the Southern Tablelands and country NSW and put Mister Munro on your accommodation list.
