Sleeps 6 | Bedrooms 3 | Bathrooms 3 (Heritage Wing)

Byng Street Boutique Hotel is an exceptional example of local craftsmanship coupled with creative vision. Once a family home, local builder and architect William Lamrock built the original Federation homestead ‘Yallungah’, around 1896. More recently, a team of skilled local craftsmen - of whom William would have been proud - painstakingly restored and rebuilt the building to its original grandeur. A significant piece of Orange’s heritage architecture, the restoration included a cohesive modern extension to the rear. Its clean lines serve to highlight the building’s original period detail, including slate roof, buff brickwork, high ceilings, leadlight windows, and internal & external joinery. The interior is a bold expression of vibrant colour, textures and artistic flair, reflective of the surrounding landscape and history of the region. Although impressive, the feel here is warm and inviting.

History lovers can choose from three rooms in the heritage wing of the original homestead - all with king beds, luxurious linens and amenities, and tastefully furnished to an impeccable standard. The Yallungah Suite has a large lounge area and its own verandah, overlooking the gardens and rooftops of Orange. Climb the heritage staircase to the The Spire Room - with a palette of warm, earthy tones, it features enchanting views over nearby heritage houses and church steeples. Or, choose the Beech Tree Suite, with its separate lounge area and views of the grounds and National Trust-registered beech tree, now over 100 years old.

Each morning, enjoy a two course à la carte breakfast, showcasing fresh local produce, in the Yallungah Dining Room with its striking arches and cedar windows & doors. In the modern wing of the hotel, you’ll find the guest lounge, the perfect place to relax with a drink in front of the fireplace. An artistic screen spanning double height windows creates beautiful dappled light; and with richly-coloured furnishings, it’s a clever reflection of the colourful leadlight windows found throughout the heritage building.

Exploring the hotel is a sensory experience: around every corner, there’s something to catch the eye - a local artwork, bold colour, patterns and textures with reclaimed elements. This uniqueness, coupled with the intimacy of a boutique hotel and welcoming country hospitality, make Byng Street Boutique Hotel a remarkable place to stay.
