Moss Manor, 1890
History
A much admired, heritage-listed property in the Southern Highlands, Moss Manor was constructed in 1890 for N. M Throsby, the Mayor at the time, then later used as Council chambers. Built in the Georgian style to a high standard with an impressive facade, the architectural magnificence of Moss Manor has been paired with an opulent and graceful interior. Original leadlight windows and doors, central Victorian staircase, soaring ceilings, and exquisite marble fireplaces feature throughout.
With a full restoration and new glass extension to the rear designed and completed by Luke Moloney Architecture, Moss Manor’s transformation won the 2024 Inaugural Australian Institute of Architects Regional Medal (NSW Country Division), and the 2024 Australian Institute of Architects award for Heritage Architecture and Commercial Architecture.
Now an elegant boutique art hotel, with a collection of Australian artwork curated by Campbell Robertson-Swan of Defiance Gallery, Moss Manor is a place where luxury and genuine hospitality meet - with every guest warmly welcomed and treated like valued friends. Not simply a place to stay, Moss Manor is an unforgettable experience, and arguably The Highlands’ most revered historic accommodation.
