Captains Cottage, c. 1850

Sleeps 2 | Bedrooms 1 | Bathrooms 1

Captain's Cottage is an adorable heritage-listed cottage in the heart of Hobart’s CBD district. It was built for a ship’s captain in the mid 1800s, with the land title first granted in 1826. This little cottage was lovingly transformed into a romantic escape by owners Kylie and Sean. With curated vintage collections and a mix of natural-textured fabrics and furnishings, the cottage is warm and inviting.

At the top of the original staircase you’ll find an enchanting loft bedroom, with a fitting portrait painting of a very handsome Captain, and queen size bed with luxurious Belgian flax linen sheets. After a dreamy sleep, slowly awaken to morning light filtering through the window above.

If you love to cook, there’s a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to make the most of Tasmania’s fresh local produce, as well as cookbooks for inspiration. In the pantry, you’ll find ground coffee beans, a range of teas, cooking staples.. plus some gourmet treats.

Captains Cottage also has a private courtyard garden filled with camellias and rambling roses, looking out over the historic roofs and chimneys of inner Hobart - a lovely little spot to relax. Now a treasured destination for travellers, Captains Cottage is a delightful way to experience Hobart’s history.
